Yahoo on DASH navigation system
Published on January 4th, 2007 in gps navigation
We had talked about Dash before. Today they announced that they are joining forces with Yahoo to allow Dash Express (their nav system) users to search Yahoo! Local for nearby products, services or businesses from their cars.
If they hurry they can probably beat Garmin - which also working on bringing MSN search to their latest nuvi series. However the Dash’s system is quite different than traditional navigation systems which only rely on receiving location data from satellites and combining it with info on local memory. Dash is planning to be the first auto navigation device that will leverage two-way connectivity where the network of other Dash devices can provide everyone in the network with the best routes based on current traffic conditions.
The Dash Express, scheduled for availability in California in the spring of 2007 and nationwide in the fall of 2007. We expect a high monthly fee on top of the hardware price.
